Instalacja alternatywnego firmware na WD TV Live HD
W związku z tym, że sam miałem problem z zainstalowaniem alternatywnego firmware dla WD TV Live HD postanowiłem napisać, krótki poradnik dla tych, którzy robią to po raz pierwszy. W internecie jest od groma informacji nt. alternatywnego oprogramowania do WD TV. Większość z nich jest w języku anglojęzycznym. Nie jest może to jakiś wielki problem, lecz zarówno polskie fora jak i angielskie pełne są ludzi, którzy uważają, że instalacja custom firmware jest rzeczą banalną i oczywistą. Nie wyjaśnia się po kolei jaki soft jest do czego, po co i jak działa.
Jeśli już chcecie pozbyć się oryginalnego firmware polecam zainstalować custom firmware od B-Rad'a. Ważne, by wybrać prawidłową wersję. Oznacza to, że wersje z Live HD Plus nie są kompatybilne z Live HD, również ze zwykłym HD [1 lub 2 generacji]. Plik najlepiej ściągnąć za pomocą torrenta [80mb] z racji wysokich transferów.
- Standardowo rozpakowywujemy na dysku.
- Szukamy pliku "wdtvlive.ver" i żeby mieć pewność, że urządzenie wykryje nam nową wersję oprogramowania zmieniamy wytłuszczoną wartość na wyższą, u mnie wygląda to tak: VERSION='1.20.04.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.2.2' Pozostałe pliki można zostawić bez zmian.
- Wszystkie pliki ładujemy najlepiej na pendrive do głównego katalogu
- Całość podpinamy do urządzenia, włączamy WD TV Live HD, system powinien wykryć i poinformować nas o próbie aktualizacji poprzez dodanie nowej pozycji w menu. Wchodzimy tam, godzimy się na wszystko i czekamy. Następuje restart. Instalacja i ponowny restart.
- W moim przypadku przy ponownym restarcie czas oczekiwania na start oprogramowania był dość znaczny. Należy cierpliwie czekać.
- Alternatywny soft został zainstalowany
No i teoretycznie można by na tym skończyć. Ale nie o to chodzi. Na pierwszy rzut oka oprócz nowej tapety i wygaszacza nic się nie zmieniło. Jeśli jednak podłączymy do urządzenia sieć uzyskamy możliwość pobierania i instalowania dodatkowych pluginów. Aby móc z nich korzystać należy na pendrivie utworzyć katalog o nazwie ".wdtvext-plugins". W tym celu otwieramy z menu start polecenie "uruchom". Wpisujemy "cmd" i zatwierdzamy. Następnie w lini tekstowej prznosimy się na nasz pendrive i wydajemy polecenie "mkdir .wdtvext-plugins". Na stronie znaleźć możemy najnowsze pluginy. W menu urządzenia można je również pobrać. Szczególnie polecam dodanie sobie opcji pogody, tools oraz pobierania napisów. Ważne aby pamiętać o utworzeniu dodatkowego pliku w głównym katalogu pendrive / HDD o nazwie "S00custom-options". Część aplikacji wymaga tego pliku do poprawnego działania np. Plugin Pogoda. Można go łatwo aktualizować przez sieć poprzez dodawanie dodatkowych wpisów według własnych życzeń.
U mnie plik "S00custom-options" wygląda tak:

Wadą alternatywnego firmware w stosunku do najnowszej bety wydanej przez WD jest brak obsługi klawiary USB. Jeśli ta opcja pojawi będę w pełni zadowolony ze zmiany. W gruncie rzeczy alternatywny firmware daje lepsze możliwości. Szczególnie ciekawa wydaje się obsługa serwerów UPNP i tworznie własnych subskrypcji. Mamy do wyboru setki stremingów min. radia internetowe i trailery filmów z serwerów Apple. Live365 w oficjalnym firmware w pewnym sensie ogranicza. Dużą zaletą WDLXTV jest lepsza reakcja na polecenia z pilota oraz szybsze działanie softu [mimo jego modyfikacji].
Wiele osób korzysta także z dodatku osdModLive, dzięki któremu po wgraniu do głównego katalogu na naszym pendrive / hdd uzyskujemy nowy wygląd itd. Ja z niego nie korzystam.
Zarządzać WD TV Live HD można również z poziomu przeglądarki internetowej. Najlepiej jest sobie sprawdzić na routerze jaki mamy adres sieciowy naszego urządzenia. U mnie jest to: 192.168.1.102. Hasła znaleźć można w pliku README w paczce z custom firmware WDLXTV. Z fajniejszych opcji jakie uzyskujemy po zalogowaniu to możliwość obsługi wirtualnego pilota, konfiguracja UPNP.
Do samej aktualizacji softu podchodziłem z pewną rezerwą. W końcu nie jest to wspierany przez producenta firmware, przez co po jego zainstalowaniu możemy stracić gwarancję, a urządzenie może być podatne na różne nieprzyjemne zdarzenia min. brak stabilności czy ryzyko "nie wstanięcia" po aktualizacji. W moim przypadku wszystko przebiegło według założeń.

A jest jakiś program do pobierania z HotFile.com/Rapidshare.com Jeżeli tak to może się zastanowie nad zakupem tej "puszeczki".

@Dzakus jest dodatek Download Deamon i tam masz obsługę tych serwisów. Nie testowałem. Podobno działa.

Play HDP-R3 i tam to wszystko mogę zainstalować. Polecam skrypty FarVoice. Ale ten WD też całkiem fajny się wydaje.

Mi na downloadDaemon 907 działa także HOTFILE Premium bardzo dobrze i dodatkowy plus programu to to ze pliki sa od razu rozpakowywane na dysku przez WD LIVE :-)

@gre raczej tak. Ale zawsze można do poprzedniego firmware (oryginalnego) wrócić

@Gre musisz zmodyfikować plik konfiguracyjny do firmware. Trzeba ustawić wyższą wersję firmware którą masz zainstalowaną. Wtedy soft się nadpisze.
